Veeday Fairey Flycatcher is nearly done.
  May 2025
A package from the past (and from UK)... let's see what can be made of this...
  April 2025
Fairchild F-91 in PanAm Brasil finished. Old Azur Kit, Vacu Canopy was completely yellowed so i had to build it from scratch
  Spring 2025
nearly finished

  March 2025
Engine and Exhaust are nearly done...

Merlin Models Hawker Woodcock arrived. some White metal parts and as usual no struts... will be a long way... maybe the engine can be used even if one cylinder is missing
  February 2025
some Albatros D.V / Va from Eduard while waiting for the D.III.
  January 2025
Happy new year. something different this time. valom saunders roe a.19 cloud. not so easy because even if it is a "plastic" kit and valom normally releases plastic kits with resin and PE details, this one has a resin fuselage that requires much work including hot water and hair dryer.. i have got the a.29 kit (late military version), but the parts are the same except the additional walter pollux II engines for the czech version, so i decided to build the a19. the resin engines are ok but far too large to fit into the plastic cowlings, some struts for the engines are missing, and the engines need detailling.
  November 2024
Pegasus and Olymp Curtiss Jenny finished, also the very old matchbox Boeing P 12 Kit from the 50s. Now, time for some Avro 504 (2 KP, swedish Airfix on Skies and maybe one armed from amodel). The later ones are too short, the KP looks ok for the dimensions, but the decals are (as usual) out of register and useless, details are rough and the float struts are wrong at least for the depicted versions. (and the instructions have errors)
  August-October 2024
time to add some recent pictures. After the civil morane A1, now the (only one thats buildable out of the box from KP) military one.

also, some ansaldos to complete my Fly Models SVA 5 and Hit Kit A1 Balilla.. the SVA5 (late) from fly and the recent KP SVA9 and SVA10 (same mould as Fly except fuselage and
a few additonal parts. In fact, the SVA9 serial 12763 "flight over Vienna" probably was a SVA10, but anyway, now all variants of the sva (long radiator, short radiator, two seater single
cockpit, dual cockpit) except the float plane are here..>br>

and the new Nieuport 11/16 from KP. bad Italian Decals, had to print myself some, and the french Nieuport 16 also self made decals.

th complete the spads, the eduard spad XIII (early) with italian markings (the old profi pack is not available and also missing the different markings with horse and griffon),
so its the weekend edition. Also, the very old airfix spad VII in italian markings.

and finally, in progress and waiting for years in the closet: olimp models curtis jn4. i recently bought the pegasus jenny for a reasonable price, when i noticed
that there are some parts left from the olimp including wheels, 4 struts, undercarriage... makes it easier since pegasus does not provide these. so the pegasus jn4 will
follow shortly
  July 2024
Morane A.1 from KP, as usual kit had to be modified to match the original , and looks like this is another "conversion" from CMR Resin, a lot of work on the parts..
The Original (restored) of Morane's Test Pilot Alfred Fronval is exhibited in Le Bourget. with blue Rudder. also shown on the box, but i have an orthochromatic photograph
, as usual you can only guess the colors but one can clearly see that the rudder has the same color as the stripes on the wings and top fuselage. And there is an old
article describing the plane as blue with bright orange on top and wings. So, here it is:

also, the float version of the Caproni is nearly done, and it was much easier than the one with the rotary engine
  July 2024
4 new Caproni Ca 100 from Fly Models. 2 Float and 2 landplanes, rotary / inline engines. This is the first one (nearly done):

the float version will follow soon. For the rotary versions, one has to cut off the front of the fuselage and replace, so float with inline engine will probably be easier.
  June 2024
Friedrichshafen FF.43 (Vacu from Airframe) nearly done

And the Pfalz D.IIIa Triplane experimental Fighter (Roden Kit)

  May 2024
Another "first" from Vizi Models. the first letov and the first military aircraft in czechoslovakia. A little bit more challenging but no major problems (only the lower wings are difficult to attach)

just when it was finished i saw the brengun Letov S.4a kit for a reasonable price and thought it would be a great companion.. it is resin but easy to handle (the resin is more soft than usual).

  April 2024
something different this time.. my first 3D Printer Model. Avia BH.1 (the first "Avia" from benes and hajn), from vizi models czech republic.
i had not expected the quality. it is made of printed resin, very fine details and very smooth surfaces. the material needs more attention than plastic, especially
when removing from "sprue" and cleaning, but nothing broke and all went together very well. I am happy with the result.
Vizi model has also another important czechoslovakian plane, the Letov S.1 (first "Letov" by alois smolik and first military aircraft in czechoslovakia). The shape is
more round and it is i biplane, but i will give it a try..

  March 2024
even more Sopwiths.. three 1 1/2 Strutters. Toko 2 seater, ex Toko (eastern express) comic and Flashback french strutter (because of Easter ..).

  March 2024
more Sopwiths.. finished 3 camels, pictures will follow.

WiP: Japanese Sopwith PUP. one HR model, the other airfix..
  February 2024
some Sopwiths.. First: Snipe (late), Toko
  January 2024
Time for another MAC Phoenix D Type.. D.II and D.IIa this time
  January 2024
HR Models Phoenix C.I and Hitkit LVG C.V in progress...

  December 2023
There was a Kit on ebay of a LFG Roland D.XVI from merlin.. i did not know that type at all, and of course not that there is a kit from merlin... i would assume that this kit will rarely be on sale if at all.
i was bidding much more than i would (we all know merlin kits) but it was sold for more than double of my last price at the end.. One can buy 6 or seven eduard Fokker D.V Profi pack for that..
but i was disappointed anyway, realized that the geometry is not so complex, got plans and try to build this one from scratch...

  December 2023
The hansa brandenburg C.1 are nearly done..
  November 2023
the 2 new MAC Kits Hansa Brandenburg C.I are in progress
Both Kits have nearly the same Colours, Wood/Linen or Wood/linen overpainted with green mottles. One Kit contains a resin cowling with the upper part of the enginge. I dont understand why MAC does not provide an engine, and a 2 parts cowling, in plastic, and avoids to have 2 different kits and the resin parts. And one could build one with the engine more visible. There are a few drawbacks, but i appreciate the release of a C.I in plastic, there was none available until now as far as i know. The Rear Center Struts are too short, the PE Part for the Generator? at the front is too long, the rear access panels have the wrong position in the instructions, for one option the rudder markings are missing, and the position of the "Coffin" on the wing is wrong in the instructions. For the various access panels and vents, it is likely that they are not correct but there have been so many different configurations of the C.I that you need to be a C.I specialist to tell. I have some original Fotos and will try to be as correct as possible. Also, if someone provides PE Parts, i would assume that control horns are included, but they are not.

But anyway, this is the one with the open cowling, for the other one i have some special plans, more next time.
  October 2023
time for the 3 Airfix BE2c
  October 2023
in the meantime, Pegasus Bristol M1C. I bought a Hanriot HD1 Kit from Pegasus and this was "bonus". Had to remove about 2mm in Height from the Fuselage, Struts are not included as usual with Pegasus, and fortunately i had enough spare parts from the avis kits (spinner, Prop, Front Deck). Rudder had to be scratch built..

  October 2023
AGO C.IV from KP (CMR). The Engine looked too big in the box, but the overall size of the plane seems to be in scale, the engine fits, and the Benz is bigger than the DB3a.. nearly done.

also on the way the 2nd LVG C.VI (KP). the first was built as polish version (See some lines below), now available from KP but the lozenge needs to be bought separately, are to my opinion the wrong color, have the wrong direction, AND: the LVG was made of wood and had no lozenge on the fuselage, therefore it was hand painted in polish service (see windsock datafile) and looked very different. This is the initial LVG Kit with german markings.
  September 2023
ps: the mentioned Elf DR.I is also on the way..
  September 2023
ready because nearly no rigging needed... Veeday Albatros D.XI. The Pfalz is available from Roden and MAC nowadays, but the D.XI to my knowledge only from Merlin
The "kit" is rather an inspiration than a construction kit, but turned out not so bad... Decals are left over from Elf Models Albatros DR.I

  August 2023
Eduard Albatros D.Va in Progress
  August 2023
Toko Pfalz D.XII (early)
  June 2023
The SSW D.iii are nearly done...

  June 2023
The Remains of 2 Pegasus Siemens Schuckert D.III kits, one (Pegasus ?) Resin SSW D.III kit and the leftovers of Toko SSW D.III / D.IV have been lying around for some years. Time to get rid of them. Some parts are competely missing (1 Cowling, Struts, Spreader bar), some are unusable (MG), so i decided to build a SSW D.III with the "better parts from the newer Pegasus kit and the Wings and Rudder of the Toko kits, and an early SSW D.III from the Rest, with modified wings, new Rudder, Cowling and Prop.

  April 2023
Today, Kovozavody has announced LVG C.VI "in polish Service". first i was alarmed since there is the one with the swastika (union of the homeland defenders)and the "all seeing eye" (gunners observer school) on the box (flown by w.dittmer). i had with some effort built this when the kit was released some years ago, with self made decals / hand painted.
"fortunately" for me, it looks like the "lozenge" decals are not included in the kit, the mentioned "KPEX026" seems not to be released yet, and there are enough sources for the fact that the patterns on the fuselage were hand painted, and had different colors than the standard lozenge on the wings (btw, the LVG had a plywood fuselage and was never covered with real lozenge fabric)

so the effort was not for nothing:

April 2023: one can never have enough fokkers... i updated the gallery, starting with my first Fokker D.VII (Revell), this was the first plane with self made lozenge decals.
The Revell Kit is not so bad, taking into consideration when it was released.. followed by a Roden Fokker D.VIIF, then 2 MAC Fokkers (from the "limited to 1850" Kit, i have 3 of them so i think the "limit" is the printed" limited" on the box and all other boxes after 1850 are identical but without the print... Anyway, since the MAC kit has only blue variants, i had build the "seven swabians" with hand painted swabians and rabbit, and the nice white / yellow with black stripes. Unfortunately for me, Eduard has included both options in the current Weekend and Profi Pack og the OAW Fokker...
The "New" Fokkers are Eduards OAW and Albatros Fokker (the Underwing Lozenge was wrong colored in the OAW, also no blue Rib tapes included.. in the re-release of the OAW Profipack, it should be ok and since the 7 swabians are now included, it will have 4 and 5 color Lozenge and also blue Rib tapes.
The last one is some kind of frankenstein. The rare Revell Fokker D.VII in Finnish Service (sold only in Finland and UK), it is the old Revell Kit but different decals. Fuselage and some Details are leftovers from the Eduard Fokkers, Skis are scratch built. Wings and Rudders are from Revell, Struts Revell / scratch
march 2023: started all the Fokker D.VII collected over the years. Beginning with the MAG Fokker from Eduard.
February 2023: KP has re-released the old smer/panter Curtiss SC-1 kit.. no need to buy if one has the original kit:

The PKZ-2 and Martinsyde Buzzard still need rigging:

the Letov S20 s are nearly finnished..

Normally i dont built 5 of the same type but i can not resist dragons / crocodiles / Snakes on Planes... the greener one was built when KP re-lauchend about 10 years ago, i think it was the first "new" kit and of better quality than the most "new" kits from KP today

January 2023: the "Helicopter" PKZ-2 from Roden is finished except rigging, as the Martinsyde F.4 Buzzard from AZ Model is (did not like finish markings, so i had chosen the 1st regular Fighter of the Aer Chór na hÉireann
(un) fortunately (we will see), Kovozavody has announced Ago C.IV and Hansa Brandenburg W12 for spring, also some "Nieuport 11 and 16".. Since i dont know much alternatives to the first 2 in 1/72 plastic, i will probably buy them, i had checked the CMR Resin Kits (and KP will continue to copy them i think) and they look not so bad. for the W12, there are 2 Versions (short and long fuselage). The announced Nieuports sound suspect because CMR never released them as far as i know, so maybe new Kits from KP. The Nieuport Triplane from KP (one of the Triplanes built) is based on an Nieuport 16 i think but i am not very happy with that, had built it only because it is rare and nearly no chance that any other manufacturer will release another one.. For Nieuport 11/16, the old TOKO kits are ok with some spare parts from Eduards Nieuport 17/23...
January 2023: Happy New Year !
The Airco DH-9a and Polikarpov R-1 from ClearProp! have arrived on 31.12.2022 :) Fantastic Kits, since i did not expect them to be released in 22 or even 23 due to the war in the Ukraine, i bought the Kovozavody (CMR Copy) DH9a and R.1 I will not build the KP kits. Not so bad, but as with any "new" Kits from KP copied from the CMR Resin masters, not really in Scale (too big) and CMR had released the Airco DH9a "early". And that is what it is. Printing some (also not 100% accurate) Decals for "post War" or Polikarpov R-1 does not make correct "late" or R-1 kits... The only KP Kit if someone wants one, is the "early" or "at war" Version.

But since i have now both ClearProp! kits, there are good news. the Airco has many "unused" Parts (including belly radiator) that are also NOT needed for the polikarpov, so there is a major chance that we will see a correct "Post War/late" Version from clearProp! in the Future, with the correct higher tailplane i hope, maybe even a "civilian" 2 seater. And on britmodeller, there were images from the Sprues of the R-1 this Summer, including an additional Frame that is not included in my Kit, containing Floats or skis.. I tend to Floats even if the other People assume skis, because the PE Frame of my R-1 is labeled "R1/MR1". and the MR1 is the float plane...

in the meantime, the Thulin B from AZ Model lying on the shelves for many years, is finished.

November 2022: Small Update. all 90% none finished
Arma Hobby Fokker E.V. its the 3rd (4th if we count the Roden) but i can not resist snakes and dragons...

BAT Projects Siemens Schuckert D.I early (means 95% Nieuport 11/16 copy).

Avia BH.3 from Kovozavody. "New 2022". it is the old KP mould, no changes but the clear parts from another more recent KP Kit (Avia BH.9/11). But i want to built it anyway again since my BH.3 is from the 80s, Original KP Kit, and at that time the Colour was supposed to be light green, but the Prototype (s) were probably not painted at all.
  October2022: The Bullfinchs are finished

September 2022: The long awaited Bristol Bullfinchs from AVIS have arrived. This is Mk.I. Some minor complaints this time: the instructions are wrong for the landing gears. the instructions show the position for Mk.II, but the Pin Holes are for Mk.I in both kits. Also, dividing the fuselage in 2 parts (Front and Rear) makes sense since the Mk.II was a 2 Seater with an additional section for the Gunner, and the original Plane was also built this way, but providing the Gunner Section as a 3rd Part for Mk.II is not optimal, assembly will be difficult. I would have preferred if the whole tail section for Mk.II including the Gunner Bay was provided. And at last, as with the Pemberton-Billing, the Rudder markings are wrong (red/white/blue). Fortunately, the serial for the Rudder is also provided separately.

September 2022: small update. many modells in progress, but none finished
Nieuport 10 from HR Model

Pfalz Dr.I from High Planes (very old and basic kit)

the 2 Doplhins from KP
September 2022: KP Sopwith Dolphin #1. Many small Additions/Corrections, Instructions have more errors than usual, Rudder Decal is missing for #2 (but not usable anyway, wrong shape and brittle).
August 2022: Waiting for Bristol Bullfinch single and two-seater. In the meantime, started HR Model Nieuport 10 and Arma Hobby Fokker E.V (again, No. 3 so far plus the one from Roden)
  August 2022: KP Salmson Sal.2 A2 finished.
July 2022: Small Update. Salmson 2 A2 from KP in progress (nearly done, needs rigging and rear Guns). Not so bad kit (former CMR), but has the same errors at least for the 5464 (white 8) 1st Aero Sqn. This particular plane had 2 marlin rockwell guns instead of one vickers, and an portside external generator. The MG Ring needs detailing, the camera and bottom openings in the fuselage are missing, also some engine cooling openings. The Upper part of the radiator cowling needs to be removed (which is easy because the cowling consists of 4 parts, otherwise it is difficult to assemble the whole cowling), therefore an engine has to be added because it is visible now. Overall Fit is ok, just be careful with the inner struts because they are mounted on the cockpit floor. Decals are as usual from KP, ok but slightly out of register, i needed to re-paint the roundel borders. some small but visible details (T.S.F, photo, lift here..) are missing.
June 2022: Started MAC L.F.G Roland D.VIb and Kovozavody Salmson 2a2. The KP kit is the exact copy of the CMR Resin Kit. Don't know why the cowling ring consists of 4 parts and the upper deck of 2, because in Resin these are single parts (as seen here), also the instructions are wrong, the upper and lower part of the cowling are swapped.. But since i found out that No 5464 had 2 Marlin-Rockwell Guns instead of one Vickers, and therefore the upper Part of the cowling removed, it is not so bad. Some Decals (T.S.F and "Lever") are missing, as the opening for the camera in the fuselage bottom. And since it could not be seen normally, no engine is supplied. Since i have to open the Cowling, i have to make one (or a half) salmson 9Z from scratch.
  May 2022: MAC Pfalz D.IIIa
April 2022: The Resin Albatros J.I is finished.. my stock of engines / struts / guns is running short. I wish Roden would sell them in 10 packs.

April 2022: Happy Easter. Nieuport 16 finished.

March 2022: Started Albatros J.I (unknown manufacturer, Resin), maybe Classic Plane / Schorsch

and Eastern Express Nieuport 16
  March 2022:
Pemberton-Billing PB 25 and Lee-Richards Monoplane No 3 from AVIS
the PB25 is missing some Wires (Rudders) but i could not find clear Pictures or Rigging Diagrams. Also, the Prop is too large..

Built some years ago but never took pictures. Bleriot XI from Eastern Express (originally Frog i think):
  March 2022:
Bristol M.1c (Red Devil)
The last of the 4 Avis Bristols.. Harry Butlers "Red Devil".
It may not be historical correct regarding colors and Markings.. The original Plane looks on some photos like the cowling was replaced by a Camel Cowling, maybe natural metal. Also, the Serial on the Rudder may have been overpainted when the Plane was painted red, and the "red devil" inscription was not present.
The Plane can be seen today in a restored Version in Australia, but this is also not 100% correct. Anyway, looks best in Red like it is...
  Feb 2022:
Junkers J 1
in 2020, the Junkers J 1 was built (replica) at the Dessau Junkers Exhibition, so time to do the same...

you can find some videos from the museum on youtube.
i had tried to reproduce the surface structure (steel panels, improved with corrugated steel from inside)
  Feb 2022:
Bristol M.1 "checkers" finished
  January 2022:
Bristol M.1 "checkers"
I always wanted to build this, and was looking for the Pegasus Kit for some years, but could not get one for a reasonable Price. Since Avis has released this (4 Kits), i wanted at least 3 of them (M.1d, red devil and "regular" trainer), so i bought all 4 to transform one to this. it may not be 100% correct, i had special hobbies 1/32 Kit and the Datafile as reference.. According to my interpretation of the b/w fotos in the Datafile and the text, the tailplane is white with red and blue stripes (SH: aluminium, blue/red on cover but red/red in instructions), at least the cowling is white (maybe the whole fuselage) (SH: aluminium). The Datafile says the Fin is white but looks clearly darker in the Fotos (SH: aluminium). And the Underside of the Wings looks like clear doped linen on the Foto (SH: Aluminium), so maybe the Fin was also CDL. Anyway, i think it will look good when finished.
  January 2022:
Snipe is also finished (needs rigging)

  January 2022:
Happy New Year ! started the Snipe and Salamander..
  December 2021:
Last Update for 2021. the 2 Airco DH5 still need rigging, also the 3 triplanes, so no pictures now. A Vacu kit of a very rare submarine based Plane (LFG V19 Putbus) was finished, pictures in the gallery. I want to build the trolley and some racks and add further pictures. 2 LFG Roland D.II from KP are also already built but need rigging. I bought 2 of them, one as "Roland D.II" and one as "Roland D.IIa" but as expected, it is the same kit with different decals. No different or additional parts. KP sells also an "Pfalz D.II" which is also the same. Since the Pfalz has a different tailskid, maybe one can make on from the kit, the D.IIa had a different (and longer) Engine and therefore a longer nose and modified maintenance doors, so you can NOT really built the D.IIa. As supposed, it is the Czech Master resin kit in plastic (and they sold it only as "Roland D.II"). But it was nevertheless useful to have 2 because the decals for the one i wanted to built are incomplete (the iron cross on the fuselage was missing), the D.IIa kit had one. So, i had built 2 D.II, one green/brown with coat of arms, and the other in typical light blue with green/brown wings. I had also 2 Sopwith Dolphins from KP (also former CMR Resin), and these look good for now, and also correct. Note that on the KP Homepage, there is a Box Backcover with the wrong Letter ("K") for C3799 but the Kit contains both ("K" and the correct "B"). The instructions are a little bit incomplete regarding the MG#s and some details, and there is one control Horn missing on the Rudder (but to my surprise all other control horns are molded and can be used). Currently i am working on a sopwith snipe (late) and salamander (Toko/eastern express). The Toko Snipe kit has late style wings and rudder which is ok for me but if you want to build the box cover (Barker) this is wrong. The Salamander Kit has the early style rudder but also late style upper wing (that can be cut/sanded easily to the early version). Both kits have engines that look like clerget 9J rather than the bentley, but i have some spare bentley from roden.
  December 2021:
Meikraft Model Zeppelin-Lindau (Dornier) D.I. The Kit turned out better than it looked...

  November 2021:
triplanes. Russian, Dixie and Prototype

  November 2021:
the triplanes are ready so far, skies and rigging is missing.. this is the "revell" triplane

  November 2021:
Sopwith triplane Prototype (N500) upper wing..

  November 2021:
Airco DH.5 finished, need rigging and Prop..
Started Sopwith Triplanes in the meantime.. the "new" KP kit.. I did not want to comment KP kits anymore except if there is one with acceptable quality. But the KP Triplane has copied all 3 wings from the ancient Revell Kit (for the upper wing including the old Sink Marks and Ejector Pins) and unprofessionally covered the quare pin holes with round ones. be warned: the middle section of the lower wing is "new" and smaller than revell, so the lower wing is too small AND since the Pin holes are the same as Revell, they are to far inside, if you use them you will get bent struts. there is a review on https://www.modelarovo.cz/ where this can be clearly seen (https://www.modelarovo.cz/sopwith-triplane-1-72-kp-kovozavody-prostejov-testovaci-stavba/)

  November 2021:
Airco DH.5 (KP, left side) and Airco DH.5 (Pegasus) in Progress. Pegasus looks closer to the original (especially front top), but now i have to scratch build the struts. I replaced Engine and MG (the white metal parts from the kit are ok but i have enough spare engines and vickers guns) and will also use spare wheels.

Eduard has released recently their Fokker D.VII OAW as Weekend Kit, including Mayers Fokker.. which is good for Modellers but bad for me since i had built Mayers from a MAC Fokker Kit years ago, with self made Decals.. And according to Eduard, the Cross on the Fuselage is Yellow and not Black. I will trust Eduard and try to replace the Cross on my Modell with a yellow one. Eduard had released some months ago in the "bunny fighters club" also the "seven swabians" Fokker, which i had also built some years earlier from a MAC kit, also with self made decals and HAND painted swabians.. :(
  October 2021:
Airco DH.5 (KP) and Airco DH.5 (Pegasus) in Progress.. the KP Kit looks exactly like the CMK Resin Kit.. Except the missing Opening at the Front Bottom of the Fuselage, it looks ok.

September 2021: Avia BH-11 from KP (again)
i had built this kit when it was released 2007, in blue. Currently, not available, but i got a cheap military BH-9, which is the same kit + 2 new fuselage halves.. and i had the decals for this version from the first kit, so here it is.. Btw, decals are a nightmare. to thin and tend to stick together / bend over

September 2021: Short S.4 Satellite from AVIS

September 2021: KP Vickers FB19 MkII finished. Decals for Rudder are too big

September 2021: Nieuport (17) triplane from Kovozavody WiP. If you want a decent Nieuport Triplane, buy an Eduard Ni 17 or 23 Weekend and use only Wings and Struts from this kit
The KP Vickers FB19 Mk.II is also in Progress...

September 2021: HR model Hanriot HD.1 in Swiss Service finished. Original Plane is exhibited in Duebendorf.

August 2021: Vickers finished.. scratch built skis, wish that KP had provided these

KP has announced Nieuport Triplane and Airco DH-5.. I have the old Pegasus DH-5 kit, so it will be interesting to build these 2 together. But next will be swiss Hanriot HD.1
  July 2021: Vickers in Progress..
June 2021: The Kovozavody Bristol Bullets have arrived. I dont want to repeat myself all the time, read the comments below about recently released Kovozavody Kits.. really disappointed. Unfortunately, the Subject is interesting and has not been done by any other Manufacturer so far (as the Sopwith Scooter and Scout), so one can not ignore this. The Drawback is, that this keeps other Manufacturers from releasing this Model, so we will have to live with it the next years. Avis for example would have made a better job i'm sure.. And Roden/Tokos Sopwiths look better also. I am impatiently waiting for the Bristol Bullfinchs announced by Avis for 2020.. Looks like Kovozavody wants to release as much kits as possible in a short time, made (unlike other czech manufacturers) without any passion (and not much skill). Thick plastic, mould marks on prominent positions, even the seat is too big, no windscreen (not even foil) and some mistakes / missing important parts. Short Run like in the last century. Back in the 80s, KP had very nice kits, comparable or even better as airfix and co. Nowadays, Kovozavody still has kits that can be compared with pegasus / merlin from the 80s, and not always win.
June 2021: my first resin kit.. just wanted to try one, got this cheap on ebay and it fits into the collection of czech pre-war planes. Avia BH-4. I would prefer polystyrene if available, as with vacu kits, use resin only if i really want the airplane..
May 2021: Bristol Racer finished. Tooks longer than expected, fuselage structure, Exhausts, Landing Gear Bays...
May 2021: the vacu model Halberstadt D.II is finished.. my 2nd vacu kit. will not do this often, only for planes not available in plastic and unusual/rare/important planes..
For this one, Pegasus did a plastic kit some years ago, but could not get one. The Halberstadt has a litte different Shape than other WW1 Fighters, and is some kind of important because it filled the Gap between the Fokker Eindeckers and Albatros D.III

April 2021: Bristol Racer in progress... takes more time than expected because of the fuselage structure and exhausts

hm.. lets see what can be made out of this

  March 2021: Short S.1 Cockle

  February 2021: Bristol Scout.

February 2021: started MAC's Bristol Scout. I had already built one years ago, i will add pictures to the gallery. I didn't rember the kit beeing so "poor", but lots of corrections needed (Cowling, Wheels), and the Spinner (resin) provided for the "FI" plane is much to small, had to build it on my own.

the existing Scout (some years ago)
January 2021 / December 2020: The Pictures of both Arma Hobby Fokker E.V, built in December. One is the Expert Set. Nice Kits, good Quality and Decals, no Problems at all..

The 3rd is a Roden Fokker E.V built some years ago (and as usual, copied and self printed the Roden Decals.. has anyone ever managed to get stick Roden Decals on any surface ??)
January 2021: Finished the Albatros. Many Parts are from Scratch (Wing Tank, stabilizer struts and tailskid support, barograph, MG sync, Instruments, Flares..) or modified. Also the Decals for the Albatros Logo are not provided, and the dragon on the starboard side had some minor errors (surprisingly, because this side is well known, while the board side was assumed also to show the Dragon for many years).
January 2021: started Kovozavody's Albatros C.III. As already mentioned for other recent releases of KP (Scooter, Swallow), i am not really happy with this kit. Again, thanks for providing a current Release of this nice Plane (only available from meicraft or pegasus until then in PVC as far as i know), but the Quality of the mould is only "ok", also the price (but compared to Eduard or Arma Hobby the value for money is less), and what really upsets are the errors / missing parts. I had built Arma Hobby's Fokker E.V recently (Pictures will follow) and even the "Junior" Set was a) cheaper b) of better mould quality and c) complete and correct. And Arma is to my knowledge relatively new in Business (6-7 Years) while Kovozavody/KP/Legato/AZ Model has a long History. The Struts for the Rudder are completely missing, also the Gravitiy Wing Tank for the "Dragon" Version, the Holes for Bomb Sight and Bombs in the Bottom of the Fuselage are missing (and the Bomb Sight), the Holder for the Flares also. The Decals are slightly incorrect since the Dragons/Crocodile on both Sides are chasing english Planes on the Original. The Steps on the lower Wings are missing. The Decompression vent on the Engine is shown in the Instructions but missing on the Part (in Fact, a Row of Rocker Levers is also missing on the engine). If Roden would sell the old Toko Sprue with BMW and Daimler Engine as 5 pack, i would buy because to me, it is still the reference in PVC 1/72 and all you ever need. Eduard has released nice Resin Engines for their Fokker D.VII recently if you need a complete visible Engine. But you get a complete Roden Kit with also MGs for the Price of one Engine and have some money left.. The Wings lower had to be corrected becaus otherwise you will not get them aligned horizontally 90 Degrees to the Fuselage. And yesterday as i wanted to mount the center upper wing Supports, this happened: (unfortunately i didn't dry fit the Parts, thought we have 2021 and not 1984)

way to short !

Pegasus Junkers J10/CL.I from 1992. Plastic with pewter Parts (http://kits.kitreview.com/junkersclireviewrb_1.htm). The Colour Scheme is not correct, and also some Parts had to be modified because the only Kit Option (1802/16) had only one MG, Engine Covers, Windscreen, instruments etc. Some of the parts are from scratch or replaced, the wings had to be noticeable thinned.

finally found time to finish the Siemens Schuckert D.IV. Built 2 Years ago, rigging was missing. the D.III was built earlier.

And again, a "double". Kovozavody's Sopwith Monoplanes (Scooter and Swallow). I appreciate the release of some rare kits by KP recently (Triplane is announced, to replace the 50 or 60 years old revell kit), but i'm somewhat disappointed. For brand new kits, i would expect more accuracy and research. Albatros C.III for instance with the dragon was a kit that i wanted to built, but the only and very old (meicraft ?) kit was not available, so thumbs up to KP for the release, but thumbs down for not providing the underwing fuel tank. The same with the Scooter and Swallow (i thought roden would someday release these because they covered nearly every camel), good idea, but the basic sprue is the same for both, some parts are different (struts, upper front deck with/without weapons, engine, ailerons and prop), but the Scooter had a smaller and more round-shaped wing and a small part on top of the struts, the cowling is missing exhaust openings and the (different) cooling opening, and in general the cowlings had a different shape (the kit's cowling is from a camel). So, too much to change for a new kit. Compared with Avis' Bristols (and Avis IS Shortrun), i would have expected more from KP. I hope the Sopwith Triplane is better..

Avis Bristol M.1c . Some sources indcate that this particular Plane was a Trainer (and therefore unarmed), but the Kit's instructions say with MG. There is an alternative upper deck so one can build the unarmed version, but anyway, i have already an unarmed M.1d (see below) and i noticed the problem when the plane was already built.. The Source is the 1/32 Kit from Alley Cat (Conversion for Special Hobby)..

it was so nice, they did it twice (kangaroo chronicles). the 2nd Bristol (M.1c this time) is in Progress, Pictures will follow. No Issues with that kit, looks all correct.
But Kovozavody has recently released Sopwith Swallow and Scooter, so i thought it would be nice to have theese 2 also together besides the Bristols. I'm somewhat disappointed, althoug i appreciate that these 2 rare Planes are released. I can live with the quality of the Kits (but compared to the shortrun avis, the quality is not better), but not with the sloppy research and realisation. The sprue is the same for both kits, containing only different wing struts, props, ailerons, engines and upper front fuselage with and without MGs. But the cowling provided is a camel cowling, and this is definitely wrong ! also, the wing is the one from the swallow, but missing the 2 holes in the center (and the maintenance opening). The Scooter had not only the different Ailerons but a smaller and more round shaped wing (without the Openings). So you have to cut the Openings in the first case, and modify the Wing Shape in the second. Also, the control horns are moulded to the Elevator, but not the Wing or Rudder. And the Seat (btw, the same as in the Albatros C.III Kit from KP) is to wide and does not fit. And the Opening/Hole in the Cowling is missing (as the Exhausts have to be drilled too). After all, too much mistakes for a new kit and too much scratch building to my opinion, if Roden would take his camel kit and modify, it would be a better kit of the Swallow/Scooter. Anyway, you will find the pictures soon. I have seen People building the Swallow from Scratch from a Camel.

Avis has recently released some interesting Kits, and has announced some more (Bristol Bullfinch). This is the Bristol M.1D. Some Modifications had to be done, although Avis has provided the slotless wings without bumps and the different engine. There are original pictures of this particular Plane, in different Stages and Markings (2,4,"G",.), with and without spinner, but the air intakes are always below and not on the sides, the 2 long exhausts connect to one common end piece and the Windscreen is different. So, the Fuel Pump and the Exhausts/intake are from scratch.

The Quality is good for a Short Run Kit, a little Flash and some adjustments to the wing/fuselage join. The Decals are well printed and very thin, need only seconds in the water and no setting solution. Be aware that all "G" Letters are printed together on the film and have to be cut first. Avis has released 4 Kits, next will be the leRhone powered M.1C

The old Airfix Sopwith Pup.. The Kit has not many Details and is (boring) green, so i took the chance and finished as a Trainer with self made decals and painting..
